Trelomeres: Impact on Life Expentancy

Telomeres govern cell reproduction, trauma dramatically affects this process

As regular readers know, I've been researching as to what causes the life expectancy reduction for Neurodivergence, trauma individuals.

I finally came across a source, which, for me, is the 'smoking gun'. (No idea what this means, only works if someone been shot)

Dr Gabor Mate talks about the physiological impact of trauma. Telomeres are part of our cell structure. As you can from the image, as we age they reduce. Those exposed to long term trauma increases the speed at which the aging process occurs.

Dr. Gabor Maté on The Connection Between Stress and Disease

With this information it is clear that it is the increased pace of aging that leads to a shorten lifespan; obviously the more exposure to trauma the quicker the aging process.

I find it slightly ironic that in reply to people saying "you look young", I'd say "I'm aging from the inside out". Unknowingly, I was speaking the truth. It certainly explains my declining health. I remember voicing my concern as to how hard my body was working to numerous GPs, psychiatrists, counsellors, always been dismissed and told not to worry about that.

As for the recent media propaganda, casting autism as something to be avoided, the rise in diagnosed individuals has no context attached. So some actual facts

- Autism rates per population remains at around 2%

- There are more people in the world. More people, more autistic people in total numbers only

- Increased understanding has led to more neurodivergent individuals being diagnosed. Particularly, those of my generation are only now being diagnosed in their 40s +. There are charts, freely available that clearly show the age ranges and diagnosed numbers.
